The BAR is looking for sponsors to help our organization promote literacy in all its forms, particularly reading, writing, financial and computer literacy. Sponsorship will help with our Annual Walk for Literacy, National book conference and mentoring efforts within urban school systems.
The BAR is interested in establishing partnerships with organizations who share our commitment to the furtherance of education and literacy in our community. We have already established an informal partnership with Chandler Park Academy which was founded by the late Dr. Anthony Shipley, a former member of The BAR. Our partnership with Chandler Park will involve members of The BAR meeting periodically with and mentoring male high-school students to ensure that upon graduation they possess “the knowledge of how life works” the BAR’s definition of literacy. We welcome similar alliances with other schools and/or other organizations which would support us to accomplish our mission and provide us the opportunity to support them in the attainment of their objectives.
Donations are needed to help underwrite ongoing scholarships for well performing high school and college students; for college tours and for field trips to the Charles H. Wright museum, Michigan Science center, software coding programs and skilled trades facilities.
